We all have a story to tell. The way that is communicated happens in a variety of ways. Other people know our story by the way we live our lives; the organizations we choose to join and serve; our photo albums; the people with whom we associate; the songs we sing and the stories we tell. For me, more often than not, the sharing of my story has revolved around the written word. I love language – the imagery created in the painting of a word picture or the lyrical lilt of a poem.
Being in ministry has afforded me the opportunity to share my personal story and my faith story on a regular basis. Whether it be sitting and talking with others, preaching, presiding at the sacraments, sharing in special occasions, walking with families through grief, writing my weekly blog, or even chairing business meetings, the spoken word has enabled me to open myself to others and to allow my story to grow and change and become.
A New Collection - Our Story. Our Song,
12 years ago I joined the team at First United, Truro and began to forge a partnership with Chris Bowman. As we began to weave our stories together, we discovered my love of language and his love of music opened for us the opportunity to share in a whole new way. For 10 years we have delved into the arena of music making and singing, creating a collection that shares our theological understanding and our relationship with Divine presence. My time at First United now comes to an end. In celebration of our ministry together, Chris and I decided to pull together our creations into one resource entitled “Our Story, Our Song.” This new song book is now available, and we are excited at the prospect of sharing it far and wide.
