Simplicity and Peace
It is early morning, a breeze is blowing off the water and the air is fresh and beautiful. The cabin, devoid of electricity and any modern inconveniences, and almost empty after a day of gutting and cleaning, speaks of simplicity and peace. What occupies the space are the spirits of the ancestors filled with stories and wisdom and welcome. I find myself being beckoned and embraced in a love that is indescribable.
The words we heard last Sunday from St. Paul are rolling around in my being. ( Ephesians 3:14-19)
“For this reason I bow my knees before God, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name. I pray that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through the Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Connected to the Universe
Rooted and grounded I feel the cells of my being re-energized and the life-force returning. I am connected to the Universe and can feel its power pulsing.
The Cabin ( by Valerie Peyton Kingsbury)
Four walls, familiar things…
Pictures, candles,
The National Geographic dating back 40 years or more.
A ladder built from rough hewn log
The clock that speaks of a long ago time.
Voices speak through time and space
Filled with stories to soothe the soul.
A song of love echoes
Deep within and all around.
Here, the past, the present and the future
Converge and become one.
The negative energy that builds over time
Is drained of its power.
Rooted and grounded in love
Hope springs forth
New life begins.
Wherever you find yourself this week, I pray that you can find your space that connects you to the power of the Universe and that you might be rooted and grounded in love.
Blessings
Valerie
