Reconciled and restored

May we be Restored and Reconciled

May we be restored to right relationship.
Connected to the heartbeat of mother earth.

May we be restored and reconciled that the path we walk is indeed the path of Jesus.

This week I have been concentrating on what I will share this coming Sunday as we reflect on truth and reconciliation. I have read many different resources, prayed a lot and tried to open myself to spirit.

On September 30 we are being asked to mark a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, one of the calls of the commission. This is intended to be a day to honour the survivors of the residential schools, their families and communities and to ensure that this atrocity remains in our sight that we might not engage in such behaviour again.

We will talk more about this on Sunday as we lead up to September 30. In my preparations though I came across a piece that I wrote a number of years ago based on Psalm 85 and it is indeed my prayer for us as we move forward and forge a new way of being.

Restoration (based on Psalm 85)

by Valerie Peyton Kingsbury

In the beginning there was balance in the universe
Inhabitants of the land walked upon it with honour
But greed and selfishness took over
and discord took root.

May we be restored to right relationship
connected to the heartbeat of mother earth

For in this place…..
steadfast love and faithfulness meet
righteousness and peace kiss
integrity springs up from the earth
dignity falls from the sky
love goes before us
honour guides our way.

May we be restored and reconciled that the path we walk is indeed the path of Jesus.

May it be so
Valerie
