Reflecting on the Broken Cup

May you find that place – a presence – that can heal your wounded heart; mend your brokenness and set you free to be.

This week in my morning meditations I have been reflecting on the broken cup. The things in life that are hard; that bring joy and sorrow, often at the same time; brokenness within and around me; and the reality that not all things can be mended. In this midst of this comes Divine reality that gives strength and courage and tends to the path that will lead to inner mending and peace.

One of the passages from our sacred story that has always spoken to me can be found in Revelation 22. It speaks to me of peace and love and healing; of possibility and promise; and of the presence of Divine reality that can set me free. In 2013 I wrote this as I sat with this scripture and I offer it now to you.

The Tree and River

by Valerie Peyton Kingsbury

There is a river, crystal clear
beside it grows a tree
It speaks of justice and of peace
a sign for all to see

For the healing of the nations
its leaves are meant to be
Here, tears are dried and life restored
tormented souls set free

Each person held in love Divine
brokenness is mended
We join hands with all creation
the way it was intended.

May you find that place where you are able to connect with something that is within and beyond. A presence that can heal your wounded heart; mend your brokenness and set you free to be.

Blessings
Valerie
