So Disappointed and Weary

We are so disappointed and weary with the latest news of Nova Scotia’s restrictions. In the Prayer of a tired spirit may we be held until we can see the light.

On the hearts and minds of many of us here in Nova Scotia is the announcement yesterday that New Brunswick is not part of the Atlantic Bubble. It was, and is, a difficult piece of news as many had already begun to solidify plans for this weekend to be reunited with family they had not seen in the last 8 months or so. While there may be some sense to the restrictions, it does not diminish the disappointment that we are feeling today.

It has been and continues to be a long journey through the wilderness of this pandemic and we are weary. Sometimes, I think we just need to allow ourselves to name this reality and cry out our lament. This was something that the Psalmist understood. Many times, the author of these great works, lifts a voice in anguish and calls on Spirit to be present in the moment.

Psalm 6 is one such poem. When I reflected on the psalmists words a couple of years ago here is what came to me and this is where I am today.

The Prayer of a Tired Spirit

My spirit is weary and tired
my body aches
my heart is troubled
I cry out in prayer….
How long?
How long will this go on?

May love embrace me
May I be cradled in care
May the darkness around me be vanquished
and my tears be wiped away.
May peace flood my soul this day.

And in the place of prayer and abandon divine reality meets us. We are held until we can see the light.

May it be so

Blessings
