Every year at the beginning of Lent we are called as followers of Jesus to step out into the wilderness. We take the 40 days of this season to listen to Divine whispering in the wind, to ponder if we can walk the path of Jesus, and to discern the Spirit’s movement among us. It is a journey that leads us from life to death to life again. A number of years ago as I reflected on this I wrote these words:
Come
Wait
Listen…We are called
To move out into the wilderness
To enter into the presence of DivineIt is a risky move
In this place we may well be changed
As Spirit touches our spirit with light and loveCome
Wait
ListenMove, from chaos into the stillness
Wait, for the light to pierce the darkness
Open to the possibilities of the universe.Renewed

ChangedWe return to change the world.

There are so many possibilities in this sojourn in the wilderness. Here we are presented with opportunities to feel the power and presence that can empower us
to be all that we are created to be;
to forgive and be forgiven;
to wrestle with our uncertainties and know that we are not alone;
to come to the well where the thirst of our spirit is quenched; and
so much more.
However, to fully embrace the opportunities we must be open and ready to receive whatever Spirit has to offer.
May it be so.
Blessings
Valerie
